NJAPPA ANNOUNCES THE RICHARD M ENGLE SCHOLARSHIP
During its July 2019 Board Meeting, the NJAPPA Board of Directors created a scholarship in the name of Richard M. Engle. Mr. Engle was the Vice President for Facilities and Construction Management at Rutgers University from 1993 to 2003. In his position, Mr. Engle advocated for and supported the professional development for the Rutgers employees. Under his leadership many employees received opportunities to attend state, regional and national conferences. Attendance at conferences offers numerous opportunities for professional enrichment.
The New Jersey chapter of APPA is in existence today as a result of Mr. Engle, along with his peers, creating our state chapter. Upon his retirement, Mr. Engle received Emeritus status which allowed him to attend our state and regional Annual Conferences, known as ERAPPA.
To honor Mr. Engle’s contribution to NJAPPA and to our Eastern Region of APPA (ERAPPA), the NJAPPA Board of Directors voted unanimously to name a Scholarship in his name. Beginning in 2019, a recipient from NJAPPA will receive the Richard M. Engle Scholarship. The award will be a $1,500 stipend to attend the Annual ERAPPA Conference to help defray the registration and travel fees associated with attending the conference. The scholarship will be an annual award given to a deserving individual with a thirst for learning and who embodies the spirit of learning to be the best facilities professional as did Richard Engle.
NJAPPA would like to congratulate Mr. Bob Brant, Rutgers University, Camden Campus as the 2019 recipient of the Richard M. Engle Scholarship.
